Smoothies are a great way to enjoy whatever fruits are fresh and in season. Here in the Philippines papayas and bananas are in season, so I decided to create a healthy smoothie with these deliciously ripe fruits.

(If you live in a part of the world where papaya isn't readily available, check the frozen section of your store. Many stores now carry frozen chopped papaya, which is perfect for smoothies!)

Tips and Techniques

  • For a thicker and colder smoothie, freeze the chopped fruit before blending.
  • To make the blending easier, pour in the liquid first before adding the chopped fruit.
  • You can adjust the amount of milk for a thinner (or thicker) smoothie.
  • For a fun twist, add other fruits.
  • Flavor up the smoothie by adding vanilla extract.
  • Want your smoothie to be even sweeter? Add a touch of honey.
  • Instead of evaporated milk, use low-fat milk or yogurt. For an indulgent treat, use ice cream!

Hi Sp,

I agree with you. Yogurt would be a great choice for this. It just happened that I don't have supply of yogurt right now.

Sp Greaney from Ireland on December 08, 2020:

I have never added evaporated milk to a smoothie. But it might be nice instead of using plain yogurt all the time.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on December 08, 2020:

This does sound like a very healthy smoothis and a tasty one too. Thank you for this recipe.
