Paneer Paratha (Paneer Stuffed Flatbread) Recipe
Cooking is one of my passions. I like to make nutritious and tasty foods at home without using preservatives and artificial colors.
Delicious Indian Flatbread
Paneer paratha is a flavorful Indian stuffed flatbread consisting of a crispy whole wheat crust with a mildly spicy paneer stuffing. It makes a delightful, filling, and protein-rich breakfast or lunch.
Homemade parathas are tastier and healthier than those made in restaurants because restaurants typically use more oil than you really need. Homemade parathas, then, can be enjoyed guilt-free.
It's easy to make these parathas at home. I made eight parathas in just 35 minutes and served them with homemade tomato salsa. You can also serve them with tomato sauce or any other tangy dip.

For the dough:
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Water as needed to make the dough
For the filling:
- 1 1/4 cup paneer, crumbled
- 1/4 cup onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon carom seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon oil, for cooking each paratha
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Make the Dough:
- In a large bowl, add wheat flour. Then add oil and salt. Mix well.
- Prepare a firm and pliable dough by adding water as needed and gently kneading. Cover the dough and set aside.
Make the Stuffing:
- In a mixing bowl, add the crumbled paneer. Add the chopped onions, coriander leaves, pepper powder, and salt.
- Gently mix. Ensure that there are no big pieces of paneer in the mixture. Set aside.
Assemble and Cook:
- Pinch out 8 equal portions of dough (each portion should be approximately the size of a lemon).
- Take each portion of dough and press it down into a patty.
- While dusting it with wheat flour, roll each patty get a disc of 6-8 inches diameter.
- Now divide the stuffing into 8 equal parts.
- On each disc, uniformly spread a portion of the stuffing (refer to photo below).
- Fold the upper half of the disc along with the stuffing. Also, fold the bottom. Join both the folded portions (refer to photo).
- You should now have a triangle-shaped stuffed paratha.
- Make the rest of the parathas in the same way. Keep them on a plate.
- Heat a pan and grease it with some oil. Place a raw paratha on it. Keep the heat at medium-high.
- Cook it until the bottom side gets golden brown spots. Flip it and add a few drops of oil on the top. Let the other side of the paratha also get golden brown spots.
- The cooking process may take about 1 1/2 minutes. Transfer each cooked paratha from the pan to a serving plate.
- Cook all the parathas in the same way.
- Serve hot paneer paratha with tomato salsa, tomato sauce, or any tangy sauce. Enjoy!
