Ingredients

For the lumpia:

  • 1 can (175 grams) meatloaf, sliced
  • 16 small cheese sticks
  • 8 lumpia wrappers
  • cooking oil, as needed

For sealing the wrappers:

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Utensils

For Preparation:

  • preparation bowl

  • measuring spoons
  • 2 plates
  • knife
  • chopping board

For Cooking:

  • saute pan
  • cooking spoon
  • frying pan
  • tongs

Instructions

  1. Slice the meatloaf and cheese into sticks. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the cornstarch and water mixture. Set aside.
  3. On a plate, lay out a single egg roll wrapper. Lay one slice of meatloaf and cheese on the wrapper.
  4. Fold the wrapper from the bottom to the center once. Then fold the wrapper from both the left and right side to the center. From there, start rolling it.
  5. Seal the top part of the wrapper with the cornstarch and water mixture.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 4 with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Once all of the lumpia are assembled, ready the frying pan with enough oil.
  8. Deep-fry the lumpia until they are golden brown.
  9. Drain the excess oil.
  10. Serve with your favorite sauce.

Tips and Techniques

  • Use canned or frozen meatloaf.
